Airing the laundry
Today a friend of mine is gaining notoriety for something that occured ten years ago. His sins, long repented and atoned for on a personal level and long accounted for in a different public setting have been dredged up by the local newspaper. The finger has been pointed, the spotlight turned on him and suspicion and assassination of his character is now fodder for common conversation.
The fact is that he did some really stupid things many years ago. He has admitted and repented for these actions and has paid a heavy personal price. And now his sins are in black and white for all the world to read. He is approaching this trial with faith and humility, and I'm certain a hefty dose of embarrasment.
It will be an honor to walk with him through these days, even if I can only support him through prayer and being his friend. I will give thanks that God is allowing me to see someone I know and care for go through this process with grace. I will continue to pray that he is brought through this a stronger Christian and a better man. It's this type of situation that really hammers home the faith piece - and it's only by the grace of God that I can give Him glory for this sad situation.
He is. We are His. There is nothing more I need, though plenty more I crave to know and understand.
