Bonne Annee!

At least I think that's how them French folk might type it. Far too lazy to look it up.

At any rate, I guess I do owe some sort of send off to 2006. Generally people do some best/worst type of listing and since I not so full of ambition, I might as well join the bandwagon. The following are the best/worst of things I experienced in 2006 - though they may not have been new in that year.

Best day: Pascha!
Worst day: My b'day. I'm seriously thinking of ignoring it this year so as to avoid the 'festivities'.

Best decision: to move.
Second best decision: getting my Weez. Mine might not be so pretty, but it's close. And it's quiet. And it runs. And it doesn't smoke. I love my wee VDub!

Worst decision
: to watch Eight Below. Why my video store doesn't ban me from renting anything with animals as the main focus, I'll never know. My eyes have not been so red nor so full of big sobby girlie tears in ages. Sweet lil puppins.

Fave books: the Wallander books by Henning Mankell. They were a delightful way to wind up my summer, bookwise.

Least fave book read
: A Small Death in Lisbon. With such rave reviews and high accolades, I was expecting something fascinating but instead I got a lump of coal masquerading as a book.

Fave movie: I think it was The Departed. Great cast, excellent levels of suspense. A bit bloody and a few too many closeups of Jack on the big screen, but I think this was my favorite of the year.

Fave new food:
Vegan risotto cakes from the Mad Market deli. Schlup-a-lish, as the dog would say if he were still alive and if he spoke. Hot diggety those things are good. One of these days I will make them at home - I finally remembered to ask for the recipe. Now I 'just' have to downsize it from the industrial to the live-alone quantities.

Fave eating out experience: The Healthy Hedon. Delish grub! Tied with the Indian joint Roti on Queen Anne. Roti's idli sambar makes my taste buds and my tum-tum very happy indeed.

Fave faux boyfriend: This hunka hunka.

Fave obsession: The one about Scandinavia. I'm going here, here and here in the next two years. The last one will be to see my dear Sister take her final vows. I know it's not in Scandinavia.

Other highlights in no particular order:

I got to see some of Montana for the first time in twenty years. My bro got an s.o. My spine developed a bit of strength. I have a smack-awesome view of the mountains from my wee lil home. My animals continue on in good health. My parents eached turned 60. (Weird when I still feel like I'm 17.) The Huskies won the Apple Cup. The World Cup. I'm closer to being done with school.

All in all a mostly decent year. It could easily be worse. I could be here.

Onward and upward in double-oh-seven.
