Info theft

For the second time in a year, I am dealing with fraudulent use of a card number online. I don't know how this happens - I haven't used the card for a couple of months so when I got a charge, I was naturally surprised. Whoever had it used my address and a verrry similar email addy to get it approved. I already stopped receiving paper bills, I shred every bit of mail with my address on it, let alone anything more about me, I don't carry the cards when I don't intend to use them, I live alone and have all my personal info stashed etc. Interesting thing is I can't find the website that Paypal says was used for the charge. It was a gaming site and anyone who knows me knows I would never go to one, let alone one that charges moolah. Thankfully the company is quick to act and shut down my account. Still: gar.

Christos Anesti!

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!

The Sacred Pascha has been revealed - salvation has dawned for all! Christ has plumbed the depths of Hades and released death's captives. He has reclaimed those whom the deceiver has tried in vain to steal. We are given life and united to God!

I give God thanks that I was able to be present so much during Holy Week. Though I knew how the story ends (or rather, how the new life begins), the Passion took a lot out of me, emotionally and physically. While patience is not a strong suit under the best of circumstances, the moments of walking with Christ, seeing his death and waiting the resurrection were each as days. I have never felt, to use a trite term, waiting so dramatically. I don't want to say more (to avoid the usual reduction to oversimplicity), but I put this here as a place to stash my reminder, in case I forget the headline and consequently the details.

The Lord awoke as from sleep and arose, saving us. His resurrection enables me to walk in truth. Glory to Him in all things. May I bring Him honor as I go about my days.

Merp!

So a few hours ago I became the grateful debtor to an auto finance company. I bought a 2001 Volkswagen Golf and brought it straight on home. Eek! It's all pretty and shiny and non-oil-burning and fun. It's an automatic and this was the first time in years that I was not nervous being stopped at a light heading east on James! Granted it has been years since I stalled on a hill (like since I was 16), but I have always been nervous and now, no more!

The car also has: a clock, intermittent wipers, a hatchback, four doors, a fun key and a sun/moon roof. It's compact. It's fun. It's got some get up -n- go.

It's not without a touch of sadness that I bade farewell to the Great White. It served me well during my worst financial days and was a welcomed gift. I just could not abide the oil burning any longer - the car *smoked* for a solid 10 minutes after I got home from seeing my Grandma. I want to go see my Dad on a more regular basis but had no faith in the White's ability to get me there (and back) safely. So I thank it for the time it served me well and I pass it on to Nick. I could not in any sort of good conscience take anyone's money for it given the burn/smoke issues (which I've been told were typical of a Subaru its age and not worth the dough to fix - and I agreed) - so I'm giving it to my friend, Nick. He's ridden in it and knows what he's said he wants.

So now I have a car payment and tomorrow I will have a higher insurance rate. I have a black car in a city where drizzle and dirt will be easily attached to the paint. I have a car I can drive outside the slow lane. Next thing after updating the insurance company: the name.

Here's a ha ha: on the night I bought a Golf, I gave away my golf clubs. I gave them to L so they are still pretty much in the family, but still.

It's all good.
